Salted Caramel Sauce

Don't let caramel making intimidate you! This salted caramel sauce recipe takes 10 minutes to make and tastes much better than store-bought! Makes about 1 1/2 cups of caramel sauce.

Ingredients
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 3/4 tsp fine salt
  • 1/4 cup butter, cut into 4 pieces
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
Instructions
  1. Whisk together sugar, water and salt in the medium saucepan.
  2. Cook over medium-high heat until the mixture turns an amber caramel color, gently shaking the pan every so often. DO NOT STIR or your caramel may crystallize!
  3. Remove the pan from heat and whisk in butter and cream. Be careful, as liquid may bubble up.
  4. Transfer caramel sauce to a bowl and chill in the fridge until ready to use. If the mixture hardens, you can soften it in the microwave by reheating for 20-30 seconds.
